| Rhinoplasty (nose plastic surgery)
1) Does rhinoplasty leave scars?
Usually no. In some cases there might be a small scar when the nose wings
are treated but they’re very small and subtle.
2) Can I choose the shape I want for my future nose?
No, the balance between nose and face must be respected and the surgeon
should have that in mind. However, we have technical support (images and
photos) to convince you that the balance is important.

3) Is the definite result immediate?
No. There are many phases involved in the rhinoplasty. The 1st phase (after
the 7th day) is characterized by a swelling which will go away slowly
until it disappears completely around the 6th month. Some patients get
the definite result a little before that.
4) How will my breathing be after surgery?
The rhinoplasty aims at correcting breathing problems as well as improving
the aesthetic. However, there might be some breathing problems in the
immediate period after the surgery because of the swelling but this is
usually mild and will go away gradually.
5) I have a running nose, can the asthetic surgery
solve that?
Research shows that in most cases, this an other breathing problems are
solved with the rhinoplasty, however, we can´t offer absolute guarantees,
but can affirm that the rhinoplasty when it doesn´t solve previous
breathing problems, at least does not create new ones.

6) How long does the result obtained last?
For a long time.
7) Is the rhinoplasty a small or large scale
surgery? What about complications?
It rarely entails complications. However, as it is a surgical procedure,
there might be unexpected problems in its evolution. Fortunately, these
problems can be solved with retouches and should not be confused with
the intermediate shape the nose will have during its evolution. Should
you have any doubts or concerns about the result, our staff is here to
help you solve those.
8) What kind of anesthetic is used?
Both general and local can be used and you can choose it after discussing
it with us.

9) How long is the surgery?
Usually from 60 to 90 minutes but it can go on longer.
10) How long do I have to stay in hospital?
12 hours for local and 24 for general anesthetic.
11) Will I need bandages? How many?
After surgery the nose is immobilized with a cast which will be removed
after the 7th or 8th day in the clinic. Sometimes nose tampons are used
for 48 to 72 hours, in case the septum is also corrected, the tampons
may be left for longer and will require change.

12) I heard the nose bleeds in the first days,
is that true?
There´s a little bleeding in the first 48 hours but this shouldn´t
worry you because bandage will be used to protect it.
13) Is the post-surgery painful?
Rarelly. In case there´s pain, it will be mild and can be overcome
with pain killers.
14) Is this surgery risky?
Not really, or no more than traveling by plane, driving and crossing a
busy street.

15) In what position should I sleep in the first
days?
With the head a little lifted and the face upwards, never sideways.
16) When can I sunbathe?
After the 3rd day, however, we don´t advise long exposures to sun
until the 30 or 45th day.
17) What’s the post-surgery evolution?
Swelling and spots for bleeding are normal in the first days, as well
as some difficulty to breathe. Obviously, this will depended on each patient´s
organism. Any concern or doubt you should have, bring it to our staff
who will be ready to clarify and help. After the cast removal the patient
usually goes through an euphoria phase but be patient for the final result
should only be assessed within 6 months after surgery.

18) Is the nose job worth it in terms of final
result?
Evidently, yes. Among other plastic surgeries, the rhinoplasty is one
that provides great satisfaction for its result.
